The Lord has been working on me for a couple of years now on healing some inner thoughts and bad habits In the mist of one of my really bad confortations the Lord put this poem on my heart and I could not rest until I sat down at the computer and with tears of self-pity still flowing freely, the Lord ministered to me with this poem. Most of my poems are for other hurting people, but the Lord has clearly given me three for my healing. This is one of them.

WHERE IS YOUR HIDING PLACE?

Does the face looking back from the looking glass
reflect hurts from a very cruel past?

Does that image say to you 'this is the picture of defeat?'
Then your true self face to face you need to meet!

Peel off those layers of self hate,
you will find yourself in an uncomfortable state.

That's your first step to healing.
See what is really behind all those untrue feelings.

The enemy, with his lies of disguise,
will do all he can to bring about your demise.

Sometimes the enemy comes from within and not without.
Your feeling of worthlessness just keeps trying to mount.

Do you hide your feelings behind, drugs, drink or weight?
There is a future for you where this is not your fate.

Jesus tells us he hides us in the cliff of the rock
where no one can touch you or mock.

Why are we so eager to believe we are no good?
When our soul within us says different if only believe it we would.

When oppression comes upon us and tries to steal our mind,
we search for our own way out, a release we could find.

We watch as people stare at us with disgust.
We quietly say "you don't understand, but think that way if you must."

Another day goes by and we add another layer
feeling defeated inside, we accept that people will just stare.

The number of pills increase, the amount of alcohol increases
the pounds of weight keep hiding our feelings.
To accept 'this is life' we are ever so willing.

Look in the mirror and really look inside!
Admit to yourself - there really is no place to hide.

Admit the truth to yourself and face the state you are in.
Take that first step on the ladder to ascend.

As your loved ones try to counsel you
and show you the way, take it as a caring soul and not as an offense.
Think through what they are saying
and not spend your time thinking of a defense.

Sometimes God's words come out of the mouth of a family or friend.
God uses His way to start the heart on the mend.

Have respect for that person trying to counsel you.
It takes courage to speak out words that may hurt
or to point out something you should do.

Our Heavenly Father will hold you in His hand
as you meet those stares with a smile as you take your stand.

Thank God each day you record a win
and thank Him sincerely to you a loved one He did send.
