There is a cost to be paid for everything we do in life, even in our spiritual lives. We explore this concept using King Jehoshaphat and his decision to turn the battle over to God and let God fight it for him.
The last two weeks, I have talked about how much God has blessed this nation; giving America more blessings than any other nation in the history of the world – including Israel.\n\nAnd I talked about how we now have a responsibility to do what we can to keep these blessings flowing for our children and our children’s children.
Today’s Text: JOHN 1:1-9\nAs I was preparing my sermon for today, I kept going back to thinking that one of my main goals is to preach and teach the Bible in a down-to-earth, interesting, and easily understood format so everyone, even those not familiar with God’s Word, could understand it in a way that would let everyone see the wonderful lessons God is giving us in this book.
Hello All!\n\n \n\nAs you might imagine; something must have upset me drastically to\nsend an email out to the majority of my contacts. Tonight, I went to\nsee \"The Invention of Lying\" by myself. I thought I would warn all of\nyou and hope that you in turn will warn those you know about this\nmovie. It has been taught to me in lesson after lesson that one person\ncan make a difference...well, I felt tonight that I would take the\nchance of looking a bit obsessed if it meant that we could gather\nas brothers and sisters to protect our children, our families, and our\nfriends from material such as this movie. Let me begin by telling you\nall the premise of the movie:\n\n \n\nIt\'s a story of a world where no one lies (sounds innocent enough,\nright). Well, this man lives in this place. Instead of lying, everyone\nsays everything they are thinking - no matter how unkind or cruel or\ninappropriate it is. Then, the man loses his job and doesn\'t have\nenough money to pay his rent. He goes to the bank and goes to withdraw\nthe last of his money but suddenly lies about the amount he has. The\nbank claims error and gives him the money. So, then, the man has money\nto pay his rent. Then he goes on a date with a beautiful girl, but she\nclaims to be out of his league. So, he lies again and tells everyone\nthat there\'s something they don\'t know about what happens after death\nand that a man in the sky told him what really happens. Everyone wants\nto hear, so they gather at his house to hear what he has to say. He\nspends all night writing his \"lie\" out and then posts it on pizza boxes\nlike \"tablets\". He then delivers his speech to everyone and they all\nstart believing in the man in the sky, etc. But the girl, while loving\nthe man, decides to marry another. So, the man gives up and grows his\nhair out long and grows a beard because he\'s lazy and drinks himself\ninto oblivion each day. All the while, he\'s teaching that the man in\nthe sky is talking to him - but it\'s all a lie to get the girl and be\nrich. In the end, he does get the girl and the big house and all the\nmoney he wants because he told this lie about the man in the sky. \n\n \n\nThe mockery the movie made of Heavenly Father, His plan, Our\nSavior, and the Prophets was stomach turning for me. The onslaught of\nridicule that those who believe or even KNOW that Heavenly Father is\nreal and living, that this is His plan for his children was terrifying\nthroughout the entire movie from beginning to end. I was shocked, as\nwere many who saw the movie with me at the implications this movie is\nsuggesting...that it\'s all a lie told by a man for worldly gain. \n\n \n\nI urge you all to refrain from supporting this movie. I am sorry\nto say I made the mistake of going to see it, but wanted to give you\nthe warning that ultimately this is Satan\'s way of trying to convince\nthe world that all we hold dear is worth nothing. Not that Satan\ndoesn\'t have a thousand other ways, but that this is definitely one we\nhave the choice to stay away from. \n\n \n\nPlease accept my apologies for being so straight forward, however,\nafter watching the movie; I felt I had an obligation to all my brothers\nand sisters to warn you of it, as I would hope you would do the same\nfor me. I have felt for the longest time that it is time, we, the\nbelievers, take a stand for what is right. Ted Kennedy died today of brain cancer and he now believes in God. \nWhether or not he believed before is no longer relevant because now\nthat he is dead, there is no doubt in his mind that there is a God and\nTed now realizes that he alone is responsible for everything single thing that he did in life, from his\nunabashed liberal behavior and politics to the drowning of Mary Jo\nKopechne in the tide channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts,\nafter which he fled the scene of the crime.\n\nDeath is the ultimate truth. It destroys all doubt and all lies. It exposes every devious, deceitful game that has been played in life and\nplaces each and every one of us right in front of God to answer for\nwhat we have done.\n\nThe rich man will answer for how he got his riches and what he did with\nthem. Likewise the poor man will answer for what he did in his\npoverty. The liar, thief, cheat, prostitute, child abuser, or all\naround pain in the neck will eventually be dead, dead, dead and they\nwill face the Truth.\n\nHow will you fare on that day? Will you gladly lay your life before\nthe throne of God or will you dread facing the Almighty because your\nlife has been a sham, one lie after another, one unconfessed,\nunrepented sin after another?\n\nThink about it and do something about it today because your tomorrow\nand your tomorrow\'s tomorrows just might be indescribably uncomfortable.\n\nI wonder how it feels to be Ted Kennedy right about now, now that he knows the Truth beyond a shadow of a doubt. Can you imagine how you will feel on that day?
\"God helps those who help themselves!\"\nHezekiah 6:1\n\nThe book of Hezekiah is not in the Bible but that doesn\'t stop many\npeople from believing the content of this phantom scripture. They\nbelieve it, quote it and use it to justify their actions or should I\nsay, hide their sin, because people who quote it are usually proud of\nthe fact that they provide for themselves and pride is a sin. (It\'s the\none that comes right before a fall)\n\nBy the way, \"God helps those who help themselves,\" is actually a\nquote from Ben Franklin and it appeared in Poor Richard\'s Almanac in\n1757, but does the content of this oft-quoted scripture contain any\nshred of truth? Yes and no.\n\nThe children of Israel would still be in bondage today had they not\nphysically got up and left Egypt. They were told what to do and they\ndid it. God helped them because they helped themselves. He had been\nhelping them every day while they were suffering under Pharaoh and\nmight have continued to do so had they refused to leave, but we can all\nsee the difference, can\'t we?

Worldwide news is a\'buzz with headlines of natural disasters, economic disintegration, political betrayal, the one world currency, and the list of horrors goes on and on. Amidst the complex turmoil, why does it appear that I have been unusually silent? Why am I not posting spiritual warnings? Why am I not shouting from the housetops? It is all so very simple, really.\n\nYou should already realize what is happening and and how it applies to the Scriptures.
