Peter's Changing Attitude

“The ugliest word in the English language is… exclusive”

Who Is Jesus?

Sunday, February 25, 2007 (19:27:02)
John does not start his gospel with Old Testament predictions (Mark), genealogy to prove Jesus was the direct descendant of King David (Matthew) or the annunciation (Luke). Instead, he starts, "In the beginning". He wanted us to first understand the eternal reality of Jesus Christ - He never came into existence, but ALWAYS WAS.

Teaching By Example

Wednesday, May 24, 2006 (00:28:19)
Teaching reasearch shows that 70% of all knowledge we possess has come to us through our eyes, not through our ears. Which means children learn much more by watching what their parents do than by listening to what their parents say to them. Parents - NOW how important is it that you are obedient to the word of God?

"Pay careful attention to all these things that I am commanding you so that it may always go well with you and your children after you when you do what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God".
Deuteronomy 12:28

Mission & Resurrection

Sunday, May 21, 2006 (14:23:20)
John's gospel in particular pays very close attention to the resurrection of Christ, each of His four appearances is chronicled in detail. If you look at what Jesus did at each of these times, you may see a pattern emerge. Firstly, He comforts a bereft, grieving woman; secondly He brings peace to the anxious disciples. His third appearance reassures an anxious, doubting follower; and His final curtain call finds Him giving a fresh start to a failed apostle.

Still Trust Your Translation?

Sunday, May 21, 2006 (14:22:18)
"For this reason the sovereign master himself will give you a confirming sign. Look, this young woman is about to conceive and will give birth to a son. You, young woman, will name him Immanuel".
Isaiah 7:14

Young woman? If you look in older Bibles, such as the King James, young woman becomes virgin. Which is right? In the Septuagint, the Greek word used is Almah. Almah is quoted 7 times in the Greek transcription of the Old Testament and in every single case, the word translates as Virgin.

It's almost as if modern Bible translators are scared of the idea. Pastors, still trust the passages you're quoting?
