Sin of Ignorance

Friday, September 19, 2003 (14:31:11)
I remember watching the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show cartoon when I was a kid. In one episode, Bullwinkle, a big moose, recited a poem, "I shot an arrow into the air. It fell to earth, I know not where." Asfoolhardy as it might be to shoot an arrow in the air, we often do just that. We shoot an arrow without considering where it may fall. We are at the mercy of the wind and might ultimately be wounded by the same arrow that we sent flying. Weunnecessarily place our self at risk because we do not consider the ultimate price of our behavior. We sin by ignorance. Our actions are foolish and some peopleare taking advantage of that.

You may not be as safe as you think you are.

Spending God's Money Wisely

Wednesday, January 01, 2003 (16:43:08)
We are called to be good stewards with what God has entrusted to us. We may be pouring God's precious money down the drain by spending it when it is not necessary. If we have the ability to minimize our expenses, and don't do it, we are wasting God's money.

Like everyone else, we are concerned about the rising cost of living.  Around our house, we look for ways to lower utility bills and other common daily expenses. We recently purchased some "compact fluorescent" (CFL) lights.  These little gizmos put out the same amount of light (lumens) as an incandescent bulb, but use a fraction of the energy. For example, one CFL gives off the same light as a 75 watt bulb, yet uses only 20 watts of electricity.
