The beast has incorrectly been ascribed to be everything from finger-printing, social security numbers, bar codes, credit cards and implanted computer chips. No need to fret about what the mark will be or who the beast is. You'll know beyond a doubt when the time comes.
666 Sickness
Revelation 13:15-18
15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
The number of the mark of the beast has been forced upon many world leaders. If you do the fuzzy math right, Adolf Hitler, Josef Stalin, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates and probably the Care Bears fit the mold as being the beast spoken of in Revelation. Self-proclaimed prophets try to wedge the numbers in whenever they need a spiritual edge over the competition. When they are not busy proclaiming the "new revelation" from their handmade pulpit, they belch it to the world in a barrage of unwanted email. Tell me, do you think Jesus would Spam others? Yet, I digress...
Here is some fodder to amuse the 666 trivia buffs.
There are 1189 chapters in the Bible. 1189 = 66 x 18 + 1. Eighteen is the same as 6 + 6 + 6. Hence the total number of chapters in the Bible is just one removed from this line-up of 6 6 6, illustrating an immediate juxtaposition of exact opposites: the Word of God versus the antichrist. In English, but using Latin as a base.

Alphabetic times 6 conversion. Each alphabetic character value is increased by 6. So a=6, b=12, c=18...z=156 Addition determines the result. US OF AMERICA U = 126 S = 114 O = 90 F = 36 A = 6 M = 78 E = 30 R = 108 I = 54 C = 18 A = 6 Total: 666
www is the equivalent of vaw, vaw, vaw in Hebrew. Vaw is the sixth letter of the Hebrew alphabet and represents six in their numbering. Hence, www is equivalent to 6-6-6. Note, this does not add up to 666, but rather is 3 sixes in a row. Maybe there is another numeralogical interpretation for that anomoly. WOW! www is in front of almost every website on the Internet, PROVING that the Internet is the anti-christ. Email is still holy! Spread the word! Send this message in email to everyone you know and then hit the left shift key 666 times for a special message. (I hope you know I am kidding)
The terrorist attack on the United States happened on September 11th. September is the ninth month. Add 9 plus 11 and you get 20. Subtract the 2 planes that hit the World Trade Center buildings and you get 18. Divide that by the 3 planes that hit buildings and you get six. Give each plane a number 6. You have 3 sixes! See? Osama bin Laden could be the antichrist! That's a joke, but I'll be someone has already tried to figure the number in there somewhere.
Modern day prophets modify their Biblical interpretations to create new revelations. They practice numerology and count letters, words and chapters in the Bible. Dividing their floating decimals by the square root of pi, they come up with a new vision for the church. Some will start a website to feed their brand of prophetic granola to anyone who will visit. "Countdown to Armegeddon Online" is all about the end times, a favorite topic among self-proclaimed prophets. This site even has endtimes posters for you. Let me get this straight. The world is coming to an end. Want to buy a poster?? Gorilla marketing knows no bounds.
Let's look at those scriptures again.

First, let's clear something up. It is not called the Book of "Revelations". It is "Revelation" or "The Revelation of Jesus Christ."
Read these scriptures carefully.
Verse 15 says the anti-christ had power to give life to the image of the beast that the image should both speak and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. The anti-christ is not Bill Clinton. He did not have an image for us to worship.
Verse 16 says that both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond will receive this mark. Doesn't sound like Hitler. It's close to the Social Security number but that doesn't 'speak' and the number is not on my forehead or hand. Hitler didn't demand that "everyone" receive a mark. Verse 17 tells us that people will have three choices. They can only buy or sell if they have:
1) the mark, or
2) the name of the beast, or
3) the number of his name
That pretty much put the spiritual mathmeticians out of work. They have no clue what the "mark" will be, which eliminates the chances of guessing choice number one. Second, they do not know the beast's "name", so they cannot even make the fuzzy math work to come up with the numbers. Third, trying to figure out the numbers to find a name hasn't worked for them yet either. That eliminates their chances of guessing choices number 2 and 3.
"Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast" Looks like no has understanding...yet.
The ciphering soothsayers do not know. I don't know. You don't know. The person that Spammed you does not know.
We'll know when we need to know.

The next time someone tries to infect you with their 666 sickness, tell them to put their ouija board down and get back to preaching the love of Christ.
