SpongeBob GayPants

Saturday, January 29, 2005 (10:00:26)
Christians take pride in their intolerance of sin. Often, this ineffectively implemented intolerance is aimed at the sinner. This behavior has a devastating impact on our ministry and reputation. 61,000 U.S. public schools will soon receive their copy of a music video starring SpongeBob SquarePants, in a remake of the 1979 hit song "We Are Family." Supporting characters include Winnie the Pooh, Barney, Bob the Builder and the Rugrats. Two Christian groups have already taken a public stance against the video and characters, stating they promote the gay agenda. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family, and Ed Vitagliano, for the American Family Association both agree the underlying message of the video celebrates the homosexual lifestyle. Hi Jerry!Attacking cartoon charaters is not new. In 1999, the Reverand Jerry Falwell warned parents that Tinky Winky, a Teletubbie cartoon character, was a "gay role model." "He is purple -- the gay-pride color;" observes the alert, "and his antenna is shaped like a triangle -- the gay pride symbol." Falwell's embarrassing Parent's Alert has since been removed from the school's website, but not before his statements were reported by the press. We didn't have to wait long for a backlash to the latest religious warnings about the SpongeBob video.

What's Wrong With This Picture?

CNN - Friday, October 15, 2004

CNN:
NEWNAN, Georgia (AP) -- Across the Bible Belt this Halloween, some little ghosts and goblins might get shooed away by the neighbors -- and some youngsters will not be allowed to go trick-or-treating at all -- because the holiday falls on a Sunday this year.
When I read the beginning of the article on the CNN web site, I'll admit my interest was piqued. When I read further, I shook my head in utter disbelief.
CNN:
"It's a day for the good Lord, not for the devil," said Barbara Braswell, who plans to send her 4-year-old granddaughter Maliyah out trick-or-treating in a princess costume on Saturday instead."
Do you see what I mean?

Dirty Tricks - How to Manipulate a Congregation

Sunday, October 03, 2004 (02:26:22)
In this series of messages, I will attempt to explain dirty tricks used by unscrupulous pastors, preachers, evangelists, and church leaders. The revealing of this information will undoubtedly be met with the same distain as when someone explains how a magic trick is done. There is no magic. It's a trick.

In this message, I will explain common methods used by some pastors, preachers and evangelists to manipulate and control their congregations.

Disclaimer: Not all pastors, preachers and evangelists are guilty of using these dirty tricks. After learning what they are, you will know if yours is guilty or not.

Rumblings

Tuesday, September 21, 2004 (16:24:36)
"But as the believers rapidly multiplied, there were rumblings of discontent. . ." (Acts 6:1a NLT)

After the church I was pastoring completed a building program in 1985, our attendance began to pick up and we became effective at reaching people in our community. That didn't surprise me. I knew that the growth of the church was hampered by the run down building we were meeting in and that relocation would give us a chance to survive. The growth didn't surprise me, but the grumbling did.
