We have all read the parable of the good Samaritan and nod our heads, thinking that we would have helped that poor man, however, we rarely give credence to the parable because after all, it is just a parable.
When was the last time you saw someone in need and walked away shaking your head? You may have even thought, "I really wish I could have helped but there was nothing I could do."
Those words are nothing more than a way to sooth your guilty conscience.
There is always something you can do. All you have to do is figure out what needs to be done and then how to accomplish it...and then do it.
When you see poor man walking down the highway with his belongings in a knapsack thrown over his shoulder, clear the seat off next to you and give him a ride.
"Years ago you could do that, but today, you don't know, that man could rob you or not."
If you find yourself saying this, could it be that you never really wanted to help that man in the first place and are just looking for a reason not to do anything?
My question to you is when will you do something? When will you be a good Samaritan? Just what combination of events will feel right to you?
When was the last time you went out of your way to help someone in need?
The story of the good Samaritan is not just a parable. It's an important message to you and me. It is a way to determine who is a sheep and who is a goat.
Watch the video and tell me what you would do.
The people who witnessed the crime did nothing.
Notice the cars passing by the 78-year-old man lying in the street.
The accident left him paralyzed.
There was no good Samaritan.
